Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) Course

The Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) regulations require importers to perform certain risk-based activities to verify that all human and animal food imported into the United States has been produced in a manner that meets applicable U.S. Food Safety regulations and provides the same level of safety as food made in the United States.  Importers must ensure that the supplier’s food is not adulterated or misbranded with respect to allergen labeling.

This 12-hour course, developed by the FSPCA and recognized by the FDA, will be taught by a Lead Instructor for the FSPCA Foreign Supplier Verification Program course.  Topics covered will include hazard analysis of imported foods, evaluation and approval of foreign suppliers, verification activities, reanalysis, corrective actions, recordkeeping, and FDA oversight.

Upon successful completion of the course, the participant will receive a certificate of completion from the FSPCA.  Participants must attend the entire course and participate in activities for successful completion of the course.
